Matters Arising
2. Harald Grønnevik will conduct a joint service at his Klokkarvik church on the 17th of August, meaning that we will not have a service on the 10th. This has been confirmed by Peter, who may not be able to attend.
3. Janet Heil has written in the upcoming Outpost, a ‘Thank You’ to all members for the increased giving, thereby helping avert a financial crisis for the church in Norway.
4. The Committee agreed to share the cost of sending Ana Duerr (deanery secretary) to the upcoming Synod, with the Stavanger congregation. While the deanery usually covers these costs, they are also experiencing financial difficulties. The issue of whether or not a separate representative should also be sent from Bergen was discussed. Pending final approval by Oslo, it was agreed that funds to send Penny Mietle to the Synod be provided. Her appointment would be for a single year, assuming that Stavanger will appoint the next full-term representative beginning next year.
5. Paul has now received all the Treasurer material from Rune Torsvik and will join him at the bank on Friday to complete the paperwork necessary to have the account transferred to his name.
6. The issue of who would assume the role of Lay Chairperson to replace Astrid was not resolved.
Other Business
7. On Sunday 13 July, there will be a baptism of Sara Marie, daughter of Andrew and Randi Midson Slettbakk.
8. Peter requested that the congregation purchase a set of song books containing virtually all Anglican church music, to make accompanying an alternate service easier. Peter can purchase a 3-volume set for £60 or appox. 720 kr, that also provides chords for the guitar. Felicity Rinde requested the purchase of a simple scanner/printer that would be kept at the church to print out music for the choir. Eirik will explore the costs (max 1000 kr) and options for securing the machine in the church.
9. Lorraine Nepstad has offered the congregation the use of her cottage again this summer. Peter will contact her to determine if afternoon of July 13th would be suitable for a picnic.
10. The following committee members will be on vacation during the following services: Iris- (30Jun-11Jul); Ana & Eirik- 17 Aug; Peter- 22 Jun & 17 Aug; Astrid- 29 Jun, 13 & 27 Jul, 10 Aug; Rosemary- 22 Jun; Paul- no vacation; Frances- 13 Jul.
